Chief
Consultant
Katrina D. Newby, CEO and
President
Katrina
(Trina) has more than 18 years experience providing
business start-up, strategy and operations consultation
services to for-profit companies and more than 10 years
experience in assisting individuals to form nonprofit
corporations and obtain their 501c3 status.
She has served as a contract consultant
for Small Business Development Centers, conducted business
workshops for the SBA and Women’s Economic Development
Centers and several other
organizations.
Her
passion and knowledge of consulting nonprofit organizations
started in 1989 when she volunteered for the Navy Relief, an
organaization serving the US military and their
families. In 1992, she developed an extensive volunteer
program for the Navy Family Service Center, which was so
successful she was recognized by the Commanding Officer at
the time.
Inspired by the nonprofit
industry, Trina began taking classes and training on
starting a nonprofit organization and began donating her
time to other nonprofits to thoroughly learn the
industry. Already providing corporation services and
being subconracted by several law firms, Trina further
started volunteering for new nonprofit organizations and
successfully assisted them in preparing and submitting the
IRS form 1023.
In
1993, Trina began giving workshops on starting a nonprofit
organization, completing the IRS tax-exemption form and
building strong volunteer teams within an
organization. Because of her writing ability and
business knowledge, Trina has been able to service and help
more than 200 organizations successfully obtain
their 501c3 status.
In
2000 Trina founded Women About Biz (www.womenaboutiz.com),
which is one of the fastest growing businesswomen’s
networking and development organizations in
America.
